Powell Wins Democratic Nomination in Nebraska's 2nd District

Political organizer Denise Powell won the Democratic primary in Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District, defeating state Sen. John Cavanaugh 39% to 37% with roughly 90% of expected votes counted, according to NBC News. Powell, backed by EMILY's List and the Congressional Black Caucus, will face Republican Brinker Harding in November in a seat Cook Political Report rates "Lean Democrat" — one of just three House districts a Republican won in 2024 that Kamala Harris also carried.
