Lawmakers in Both Parties Press Trump to Sign Taiwan Arms Package

Bipartisan lawmakers called on President Trump to approve a $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan after he told reporters he made "no commitment either way" to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the pending package, according to CBS News. Said Rep. Gregory Meeks: "The president is the one that's holding it up" — noting Congress approved the sale in January, four months ago. Rep. Michael McCaul said the U.S. must "arm Taiwan so they can defend themselves for deterrence against Chairman Xi."
